Two Rooms Residency Program
The Two Rooms Residency Program has been established in 2006 to provide New Zealand and International artists with the opportunity to work in Auckland and travel in New Zealand for a period of up to three months. The purpose is to support ambitious and experimental projects and the commissioning of new works. Visiting artists are encouraged to make links with New Zealand artists and arts organizations in order to promote an exchange of ideas and practice between International
and New Zealand artists.
There is a 100 sq m studio on site and accommodation in an apartment on the Auckland waterfront and the gallery spaces may be available for an exhibition.
The program is open to mid career artists from curatorial referral. There are three residencies available per year open to all media but with a bias towards film and photography.
Visiting artists to Two Rooms so far have been photographer Bridget Smith (UK) and filmmaker Runa Islam (UK), with proposals for filmmaker Isaac Julien (UK) and painter Jane Harris (UK) in 2008.
